General Discussion / Re: What can we expect post lockdown
« Last post by thebighairy on January 18, 2021, 03:31:03 PM »
As fas as I'm aware the only changes were to swap people back from fortnightly to weekly pick ups as long as there hadn't been any problems, missed pick ups etc. I don't see any reason to change this unless there are real risks involved. The service users on my caseload are grown ups and know how to take medication, many of them work. As long as we have some contact for a check in every so often then weekly collections is fine by me.

General Discussion / What can we expect post lockdown
« Last post by OP8S on January 10, 2021, 03:45:00 PM »
Given that in lockdown there has been a lot less supervision with some people switched from daily pick up to weekly, some weekly to every fortnight as well as just recieving a phone call every few months from services to see how I am or if I want any changes ( reductions ::)) , what do people think will happen after lockdown has finished ? As far as I am aware there have been no major disasters (?), DSPs may well have saved a few quid in fact, or have been able to spend more time with those who are in need of more support, wanting to reduce etc.
I see absolutely no reason for anyone to be returned to twice weekly or daily pick up if they have been managing to remain stable with a weekly pick up, that would seem pointless to me & wouldn't happen to any other patient group.

Have there been changes in the way your OST has been delivered during lockdown? If so what have they been & do you feel that they have had a positive / negative effect ? I think that folk's treatment should be left as it is as long as there haven't been any problems arising from less supervision & once lockdown is over I'd hope things remain the same if the user feels it's not had a negative effect on their treatment.
What does everyone ( anyone ? ) else think?

Same to you mate, wishing you guys a Happy and Safe New Year.  it has been a strange year and I hope that this coming year is better than last.  Personally I have been lucky in that I haven't lost anyone close to me yet from Covid, but that can change very quickly and very easily.  I hope the forum can re-engerise itself this year as it is a fabulous  resource just look at some of the older posts from a few years ago, there was a wealth of information being exchanged by patients.  I know there is only a small core group of member left; but even if we all started at least one thread a month it might start things moving again.  Just my thoughts on it, anyone else any thoughts on it?

Ask a Question / Information about continueing Methadone script privately
« Last post by gridlocked on December 29, 2020, 08:21:45 PM »
Hello everyone, I'm really glad to see this forum is still going.

This is a really important resource, Cant let it go by the wayside...

My question is, Does anyone have experience or and info about going private for a methadone script? I'm on 50ml a day with the local Drug and Alcohol service, Its weekly pickup.

How hard is it to get with BUPA or an online deal? Has anyone tried it?

Ever since the lockdown all I get is a phone call ever 6 weeks, I havent used anything other than my script in about 1.5 years so if im honest having no contact with them would be a plus, and having control of my prescription and paying for a service would be welcome.

Any info would be apppreciated.

Thanks!!!

It's been a shit year with that shitty virus going around, don't make it any worse by forgetting to get your script all sorted until things return to normal !
I wish everyone a Very Happy Festive season, enjoy, stay safe & make sure you've got Naloxone at hand just in case.
ALL THE BEST

Good to hear from you mate, I hope you & the family are well. Isn't it strange how after years of having to see drug workers, Dr.'s, shrinks to make sure that we are all jumping through the hoops they set for us a phone call lasting a few minutes is all most of us really need. Let's hope it continues after CV-19 is dealt with. DSP's must be saving a fortune & should have time to focus on the patients that actually need their help.
Anyway, like I said.Good to hear from you, always puts a smile on my face when I see a post from you....Oi!Oi! Hope you've got something nice waiting for you under the tree(s) of green.
Take care, Stay safe.
All the best

Wasn't sure whether I should carry on with the original thread but was wondering how everybody is getting on? Well I hope. As far as scripts go, I'm still picking up weekly, fortnightly might be nice for the winter ( cant see it changing ). The pharmacist is about the only healthcare professional I'm in contact with, though I'm sure I could phone my GP if I had to. Did see a Drugs worker today in the pharmacy collecting scripts for people. Felt like asking him why I don't get mine delivered but due to past relationship I'm not sure he's allowed to talk shop with me after I threatened to take them to court. They certainly never email now that's for sure! ;D
Anyway I hope everyone is avoiding the virus & keeping safe.

Great news, good old primary care! I've always thought MXL would be a good drug to use as a substitute, once a day consumption & all that. Pity more people aren't given the chance. Glad the hepc treatment went well, you'll be glad to put it behind  you now. Best go &catch the bus to collect my script. Hope i can find my face mask today!
